I have been living in New York for almost two whole months now, and I am still amazed at how little I have managed to do here! It seems like the more I try to explore and expand, the more I realize how futile these aspirations are. The good news is that I am not discouraged by this realization, but rather empowered to keep pushing forth. Now that I know (99%) that I am staying for the whole year, I feel confident that the next few months will bring a whole slew of NY experiences. I start this weekend, as I approach Halloween weekend. I have my first friend coming to visit me for the entire weekend, and I am so excited. We have so much planned already and I hope that my 2 months here have made me a little more knowledgeable about the city, and that I can be the awesome NY hostess that I want to be!
Here are our tentative (and incomplete) plans for this weekend, starting tomorrow:
After Dark @ Madame Tussaud's (http://www.afterdarknewyork.com/)
Midnight showing of Rocky Horror (in Chelsea)
Of course, the mandatory dressing up (and "trick-or-treating")
It might not seem like much, but these two plans are already more than I have done in one weekend since I've been here. I love my friends, but many of them are a little more complacent about staying near campus than I would like. This weekend will force me to explore more, and I cannot wait! I hope to see some of you along my journey down the West Side, and if you have any more recommendations for this weekend, PLEASE let me know! Have a very "horrific" Halloween!
